All-Native Senior Lacrosse Tournament

The Akwesasne Lacrosse Hall of Fame Committee will be the host of The Tewaaraton Wooden Stick Tournament to be held in Akwesasne on the Labor Day long weekend September 1st through 5th, 2016. The Tewaaraton Wooden Stick Tournament is an all-native open-caliber senior (18+) event which allows the best native lacrosse players to participate and represent their community, nation or region against top level competition from other First Nations. All players are to use wooden sticks exclusively during this tournament.AkweHofF

The Akwesasne Lacrosse Hall of Fame Committee, invites you to enter a team into this prestigious tournament and compete to win the $5,000 first place prize money. The Entry fee is $1,000, plus $500 performance bond, every team is guaranteed three games. The entry deadline is August 26, 2016. All information concerning The Tewaaraton Wooden Stick Tournament will be sent by email when the intent to participate is received. I hope that you will consider bringing a team to our event. The Akwesasne Hall of Fame Committee will accept the first six to eight teams for this tournament.

Also, during The Tewaaraton Wooden Stick Tournament will be two traditional leather ball games using the long pocket sticks, supplied by the Akwesasne Lacrosse Hall of Fame. During these games players will play for their clan. There will be no age limitations and it will be open to all participants. The hall of fame committee has acquired forty (40) sticks for this event.
